Welcome to Canongate’s Author Pages
Canongate has had a busy and exciting spring, with both Richard Holloway's Leaving Alexandria and Jonah Lehrer's Imagine shooting straight into the Sunday Times Bestseller List.
Leaving Alexandria is the thought-provoking and moving memoir of Richard Holloway, the former Bishop of Edinburgh, who examines page by page the nature of faith and doubt, and his own very personal journey through the church and beyond.
If March was the month of faith, April and May brought us science. Acclaimed neuroscience writer Jonah Lehrer had us all tapping into our creative instincts as we leafed through the fascinating pages of Imagine: How Creativity Works. Jonah had a packed tour of the UK including a sell-out Canongate Talks event in Edinburgh. Still on the theme of neuroscience, David Eagleman's Incognito explored the 'stranger within': our subconscious mind and the incredible control it exercises on every decision we make. David's book launch coincided with the Royal Opera House adaptation of his best-selling thought experiment Sum, which explored various imaginings of the afterlife. Finally, Claudia Hammond's Time Warped finally revealed why time flies when you're on holiday but Monday mornings go on forever.
Keep up to date with all these great events here at canongate.tv and on our Facebook and Twitter pages. Many readers joined in the discussion online, posting creative ideas on the interactive Imagine wall or tweeting under #imagine, and Glen Duncan's Twitter take-over in April was a great opportunity for fans of The Last Werewolf to hear all about its hotly-anticipated follow-up, Talulla Rising.
Thank you to everyone who read, shared, tweeted and supported our titles this spring. Watch this space for more exciting new releases as we move into summer.
