Magical animated preview of the first in the Wildwood series by Colin Meloy and illustrator Carson Ellis.

The story of Colin Meloy and Carson Ellis is as captivating as their debut children’s novel, Wildwood and its brand new sequel Under Wildwood.

Born on the same day, one year apart, Colin dreamt of becoming an author, while Carson spent her time exploring the woods and drawing. Their paths crossed when they shared a room at college, and bonded over their mutual creativity – Carson creating striking artwork for Colin’s band, Tarkio.

After college, Carson earned a stellar reputation as an award-winning artist, and continued to collaborate with Colin and his new band, the Decemberists. Now married and living in their home town of Portland, Oregon, they have a six-year-old son named Henry “Hank” Meloy and a new addition to their family coming soon.

Wildwood marks Colin’s debut as a children’s writer, and his enchanting story of two children’s adventures in a forbidden wilderness is brought to life by Carson’s intricate illustrations. And now fans can find out what happens next in the second instalment, Under Wildwood

‘Once I stepped inside I never wanted to leave.'

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Colin Meloy once wrote Ray Bradbury a letter, informing him that he 'considered himself an author too'. He was ten. Since then, Colin has gone on to be the singer and songwriter for the band The Decemberists, where he channels all of his weird ideas into weird songs. This is his first time channelling those ideas into a novel. As a child, Carson Ellis loved exploring the woods, drawing and nursing wounded animals back to health. As an adult, little has changed - except she is now the acclaimed illustrator of several books for children, including Lemony Snicket's The Composer is Dead, Dillweed's Revenge by Florence Parry Heide, and The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart. Colin and Carson live with their son, Hank, in Portland, Oregon, quite near the Impassable Wilderness.
